WorkEx is a structured post 18 programme delivered by Krome21 that provides an alternative to traditional building-based day services.
Through meaningful placements within local schools and educational environments, adults with Down syndrome develop independence, confidence, and practical life skills whilst becoming active and valued members of their community.

Placement & Experience
Each placement is carefully chosen to provide a wide range of experiences in non statutory roles supporting administration, back-office functions, wider school operations, and more.

Support & Partnership
Participants travel to their placement alongside their work partner, developing semi-independent travel skills while receiving guidance, support and encouragement throughout the day.

Skills & Confidence
In addition to job-specific skills, participants also develop essential skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. These experiences not only prepare them for possible future employment opportunities but also boost their confidence and independence.

Impact & Community
Overall, WorkEx aims to create an alternative to traditional building-based day services, where individuals with Down syndrome can thrive and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Measuring Success
The programme's success is measured not just by the skills learned but also by the lasting relationships built between participants, their work partners, and our host employers.
